Literacy Education Courses

Study Skills and Reading Strategies (Classroom & Online Options)
*15 hrs | All Grade Levels

Study Skills and Reading Strategies is available both online and in the classroom. In the classroom, this course is designed as a 15 hour class and is spread out over two days Online, the course is spread out over two weeks including 7.5 hours of online synchronous and 7.5 hours of online asynchronous work.  Participants learn proven study skills, reading strategies, and test taking techniques to incorporate into the curriculum as in-class assignments and as homework to increase students’ reading comprehension, word knowledge, note taking, and communication skills.   Upon completion of the course participants will be able to:  assist students in applying reading strategies to textbook reading; assist students in applying the SQ5R strategy while reading texts; assist students in applying a variety of study strategies for classroom and homework assignments; apply journaling to improve comprehension and understanding; analyze the application of reading and study strategies in the classroom; and lastly, prepare students for objective and subjective testing environments.

Technology Education Courses

Integrating Technology into Your Curriculum (Classroom Only)
*15 hrs | All Grade Levels

This beginning to intermediary technological skills course is presented over two separate dates and covers a total of 15 instructional classroom hours.  Specifically, this course was designed to get educators comfortable with using technology in the classroom so that the teachers and their students can effectively gather, evaluate, organize, present and assess technological information.  Participants’ Internet searching, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Concept Mapping software skills are all improved as they benefit from valuable hands-on experience using technology, and acquiring new ideas to incorporate into the classrooms.  Upon completion of the course participants will be able to:  explain the importance of website evaluations; create an organized and functional Microsoft Word document; create and present a comprehensive Microsoft PowerPoint project; create digital concept maps; design a plan for integrating technology into the curriculum; apply various technological applications to the classroom; and finally, assemble grading rubrics based on criteria set forth in technologically related assignments.

Advanced Integrating Technology into Your Curriculum (Online Only)
*15 hrs | All Grade Levels

The course has 7.5 hours of online synchronous and 7.5 hours of online asynchronous work designed to provide participants with advanced technological knowledge to assist them and their students in gathering, evaluating, organizing, presenting and assessing technological information.   Participants expand their Internet search, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills through hands-on technological experience. They also acquire new methods to incorporate technology into the classroom.  Upon completion of the course participants will be able to:  evaluate internet searching data bases; apply advanced features to Microsoft Word documents and PowerPoint presentations, as well as create a digital gradebook using Microsoft Excel. Participants will learn to apply these various technological applications to the classroom; and finally, create a plan integrating technology into their current curriculum.

Business Courses

Effective Cold Calling (Classroom Only)
7.5 hrs | Designed for Businesses who want to improve Corporate Sales

This course is designed for individuals whose responsibility includes contacting people or companies with whom they have little or no previous relationship. Class participants will learn how cold calling fits into the sales cycle and learn the techniques for building a Strategic Cold Calling Plan that includes identifying their ideal prospects, developing and practicing sales scripts, connecting with the decision maker, addressing objections and qualifying their prospects. The techniques learned in this course will help the participants improve their overall effectiveness, increasing their overall sales and their company’s bottom-line.
